Safety

Thailand is one of nine countries that have never been occupied.

Thailand has more than 35,000 temples and 90% of the country practices Buddhism.

Older people receive a bow from younger people by joining the hands in a small bow, called a "wai".

Thailand is "the land of smiles" and "the kingdom of peace" as they are a peace loving country desiring harmony over conflict.

Cost

The King of Thailand created a subsistence economy making basic needs like food, shelter, and healthcare very inexpensive; while taxing luxury goods like cars, alcohol, cigarettes, etc.

Average rent for an apartment in Bangkok ranges from $350 to $500 a month.

Health insurance is affordable about $1500 to $3000 a year for inpatient.

A scooter to rent is about $500 a month, or to purchase is $2000.

To eat out every meal, you can expect to pay about $5 to $20 a day.

Quality of Life

There are dozens of festivals every year in Thailand, and 19 public holidays. 

The 147 national parks, 58 wildlife sanctuaries, 67 non-hunting areas, 120 forest parks, and 22 marine parks cover nearly 20% of the country.
